Generac Select Dealer
Generac standby generators in St. Clairsville and Belmont County
When the power goes out on your road, a standby generator starts itself in seconds and carries the house until the grid is back. DC Electric is a Generac Select Dealer based in St. Clairsville, Ohio. We size the unit, install it, and stand beside you at start-up.

What a standby generator does
It sits outside on a pad, like an air conditioner, and watches the line. When the power drops, it starts on its own, the automatic transfer switch moves the house over, and it runs on natural gas or propane from the same supply as your furnace. There is no fuel to store, no cord to run, nothing to pull out of the garage in the rain.
Sized by a load study, not a sales sheet
Before anything is ordered we add up what your house actually pulls: the well pump, the furnace, the sump pump, the fridge and freezer, the air conditioning if you want it covered. That number picks the unit. Too small and it trips the first time the well kicks on. Too big and you paid for kilowatts you never use.
Any size Generac
Guardian air-cooled units from 10 to 26 kW cover most houses in Belmont County. Liquid-cooled Protector units run up to 150 kW for large homes, farms and shops. Placement follows Generac's numbers: eighteen inches off the wall behind it, three feet at the front and ends, five feet from any window that opens, level within half an inch on its pad.
How the job goes
A free in-home estimate first: we look at your panel, your gas line and where the unit can sit, and give you a written price. Installation is the pad, the generator, the automatic transfer switch and the wiring to your panel, with the gas connection coordinated with your supplier. Then start-up with you there: we simulate an outage so the first time it runs is not the first time you see it.
Questions people ask
- Do I need a permit for a standby generator?
- Yes. Generator installs are permitted and inspected in Ohio. DC Electric pulls the permit as part of the job; that is part of what you are paying a licensed contractor for.
- Natural gas or propane?
- Natural gas if you have it at the house, propane if you do not. Either way it runs off the same supply as your furnace and refills nothing.
- Where do you install?
- St. Clairsville, Belmont County and across the Ohio Valley, including Wheeling. Ohio licence 51509, West Virginia licence WV065693.
