Pole barns, shops and farm wiring in Belmont County
A pole barn with one outlet is a shed. DC Electric runs the sub-feed that can take a welder and a compressor, hangs lighting you can work under corner to corner, and wires the door openers. On the farm, one service at the pole feeds the barn, the house and the shop, each on its own disconnect.

Sized for next year, not just this one
A sub-feed from the house or a separate service at the barn, sized for what you will actually run out there: a welder, a compressor, a lift, lights, door openers, a heater. Run in conduit, labelled, with room in the panel for what comes next.
Light you can work under
LED high bays draw about half the power of the tubes they replace and put out more light, with no ballasts to change. Fixtures are laid out with a laser so the floor reads evenly corner to corner.
Farm distribution
One service at the pole, then separate disconnects for the barn, the house and the shop, with a manual transfer switch so a generator can carry the farm in an outage. Camper plugs, overhead drops, service poles set and wired.
Aerial work
A bucket truck for the jobs a ladder cannot reach: overhead lines to the barn, pole-mounted services, and parking lot lights.
Questions people ask
- Sub-feed or a separate service?
- A sub-feed off the house is cheaper when the barn is close and the house service has room. A separate service at the barn makes sense for a long run or a heavy load. We look at both and quote the one that fits.
- Can you add a generator to a farm service?
- Yes. A manual transfer switch at the service lets one generator carry the barn, the house and the shop, and it is built into the distribution from the start.
- Do you do commercial buildings?
- Yes. Shops, garages, warehouses and gyms, including LED conversions and parking lot lighting.
